This story has some important elements to explore but it is WAY overly dramatic which makes it torture to stick with. Character reactions are frequently, comically over the top. The author goes to great lengths to drag out trust issues over hidden past events and in the end there aren't any real shocking secrets. There is a statement on almost every page that big information about the real story is being held back. Can the truth be told? Will it end all chance for true love? But at the end, there are no revelations. It's like, "yeah that was in the first chapter. Did they REALLY not get she has money when they saw the house? ". The characters come off being dense and not really interesting. I also was left wondering if the author had ever spent any time around a child. Completely unrealistic things came out of the child's part of the story whose parents need someone else to write a book to explain things to her? And the woman they trust for that is the one who promised their child she would always be there and then left town without a word planning not to return? Hardly. Protect your child from that selfish lunatic ladies. The most glaring drawback of the book is the author's inability to construct a sentence that clearly says who is doing what. As soon as two people are in a room or in a conversation, three pronouns get switched around in every sentence so you have no idea which woman is doing or saying what to whom. "She moved her arm over her cup to get her drink" " no don't do that she said to her". What? It's bad. Correctable with editing which clearly was not done. I hate having to work this hard to read a book and then discovering there really is no story being told. Plus, people having quickie sex in front of their twin sister? That's not hot. It's creepy. Save your money. I never read the reviews before purchasing a book, guess this time I should have. I also hate to not finish a book so I got through this which is an achievement in itself. This reads like a teenage lesbian daydream with the Heroine a combination of Jesus, Yoda and a female 007. Raven, less is more and a little research on medical conditions, medications is recommended also. The inappropriate sexual overtures that Alex makes to all the women in the book and their adoration of her is so misrepresenting of Lesbians I almost think this is a straight womans idea of the Lesbian community.
